Any audio CDs out there to learn European Portuguese?
I learned Spanish with Pimsleur, and I believe they are the best around. However, they only have comprehensive sets of Brazilian Portuguese. As much as I love the language, I like the European dialect from Portugal better. Quite possibly those in the UK might have an idea of where to go to learn European Portuguese at home. Here in the US it’s all to common to find the Brazilian dialect around. Thanks much!
Thanks for the answers… I’m aware of the population difference, and the logic of studying Brazilian dialect. I just like the way Continental Portuguese sounds, and not meaning any disrespect, I do not like the way the Brazilians pronounce the t’s and d’s. Plus, I hope to buy a house in Portugal one day.
Still, any good learning programs out there for an almost lost dialect?

I hear you! As a fellow American and fellow lover of Português de Portugal, I know how hard it can be to find access to our preferred variant. (Funny how some people seem to think that bigger is better and totally disregard someone else’s motivations for learning a language. Can you imagine, for example, meeting your Azorean birth mother or your Lisboan in-laws and speaking to them in BP because “more people speak it”? Sheesh.)

We have literally thousands of links to recommended free audio materials available on the internet as well as audio materials of our own authorship, all organized according to level, type of skill, topic, and variant (Pt/Br).

(I’ve been trying to post this since yesterday AM. In response to your additional details, I applaud your being nice to all the people–those were just 2–who try to dissuade others from studying EP, but I fail to see the logic of studying BP if one is primarily interested in speaking with Portuguese…and vice versa. I would never tell someone who’s interested in studying Bajun English to study American English instead because there are more Americans than there are Barbadians. *That* is what is disrespectful.)
